Thin ball bearings means that the ratio of bearing inner diameter to outer diameter is less than a specified value. The ratio of the outer diameter to the inner diameter of the bearing is less than 1.25, which means that the outer diameter to the inner diameter of the bearing is very small, and the bearing wall is very thin, so it is called thin-walled bearing. Thin wall bearings require high precision, because their walls are very thin, and their weight can be reduced, so it should be selected according to the use environment.
Thin wall bearing is simple in structure and convenient in use. It is mainly used to bear radial load, but when the radial clearance of bearing is increased, it has certain performance of angular contact ball bearing, and can bear the combined radial and axial load. When the speed is high and the thrust ball bearing is not suitable, the angular contact ball type of thin-walled bearing can also be selected to bear the pure axial load. Compared with other types of bearings with the same size, thin-walled bearings have smaller friction coefficient and higher limit speed.
